The weather forecast for this weekend indicates that it will be dry and settled in most parts of the country.

Met Éireann says that today (Friday, March 19) will be mostly dry and rather cloudy, but there will be some sunny spells too, especially in Munster, south Leinster and along the east coast.

There may be a few spots of drizzle near northwestern coasts and hills with highest temperatures of 9° to 13°, mildest in the south, in a light to moderate northerly breeze.

It will continue mostly cloudy tonight with a little patchy drizzle drifting across the country at times, but most areas will stay dry.

Patches of mist will form in near calm conditions, with lowest temperatures of 4° to 7°.

Saturday

Tomorrow, Saturday, will be a cloudy day, but with a good deal of dry weather. The national forecaster says that there will be some patchy light drizzle at times, mainly on western and northern coasts and hills.

Highest temperatures tomorrow will range from 9° to 12°, in a light northwesterly breeze.

It will continue mostly cloudy and mostly dry tomorrow night, becoming misty with patchy light drizzle in Ulster edging southwards overnight.

Lows overnight temperatures on Saturday night of 3° to 6°, in a light northwesterly breeze.

Sunday and Monday forecast

It will be mostly cloudy, and holding mostly dry on Sunday, but again the cloud will be thick enough to bring a little patchy drizzle at times.

Highs temperatures on Sunday are expected to reach from 9° to 11°, in a light northwesterly breeze, however these temperatures will drop to lows of 2° to 6° on Sunday night into Monday morning.

Met Éireann says it will be a similar day on Monday with a lot of cloud around, but keeping mostly dry, especially further east.

There will be some drizzle at times, which may become more persistent in the west and north. Highest temperatures will range from 10° to 12°, in a light to moderate southwesterly breeze.

On Monday night, temperatures will drop back to between 5° and 7° degrees.

Weather change

The dry calm weather we have been experiencing over the past few days is expected to change slightly on Tuesday.

Mey Éireann says that southwesterly winds strengthen leaving a mostly cloudy day with patchy light rain or drizzle at times, but a lot of dry weather too and any rainfall amounts will be small.

Highest temperatures on Tuesday are expected to range from 11° to 13°, in fresh southwesterly winds, which will be strong on coasts.
