Coillte has reminded students that the deadline is approaching to apply for its forestry scholarship programme.

The closing date for applications to be submitted through the Coillte website falls next Monday (July 6).

The scholarship offers up to €20,000 in financial support over the course of a forestry degree.

There are also opportunities for paid summer placements and potential future career opportunities with Coillte.

Forestry scholarship

Developed in response to Ireland’s growing need for skilled forestry professionals, the scholarship programme supports students enrolling in full-time undergraduate forestry degrees at University College Dublin (UCD) or South East Technological University (SETU) from September 2026.

Students who secure a scholarship will be offered €5,000 per year for the duration of their forestry degree.

The programme has seen strong growth in demand, with applications increasing by 25% in the past year.

Mark Carlin, managing director, Coillte Forest said: "Forestry offers students the opportunity to build a meaningful career in a sector that is central to climate action, biodiversity, sustainable timber supply and rural development".

"As the application deadline approaches, we are encouraging anyone considering forestry as a study or career path to take this final opportunity to apply.

"Through the Coillte Forestry Scholarship Programme, students can access financial support, practical experience and exposure to future career opportunities.

"We are keen to support the next generation of forestry professionals and would encourage eligible students to submit their applications before Monday, July 6," he added.
