DAFM: Three quarters of TAMS tranche 4 applications approved

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has said over three quarters of the applications made under tranche 4 of the Targeted Agriculture Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3) have now been approved.

TAMS provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

The latest data, published by the department, shows that 4,446 (76%) out of the 5,864 applications made in tranche 4 have been approved.

237 applications have been rejected by officials, with a further 127 withdrawn from the scheme.

The following table provides the latest update on tranche 4 applications for the 10 schemes contained in TAMS 3:

DAFM has also confirmed that 63 applications made under tranche 2 of TAMS are still "in progress".

8,618 out of 9,110 applications made under that round have secured approval.

There are also 58 cases outstanding in tranche 3. The department said that 3,377 of the 3,799 tranche 3 applications have been given the green light.

The department of agriculture issued over €39 million in scheme payments to farmers last week.

The latest data shows that the majority of the payments related to the €32.4 million issued under the Tillage and Horticulture Support Scheme.

Some €1.85 million was issued under the new Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3), while just over €100,000 was paid out under TAMS 2.

The data shows that total TAMS 3 payments (5,043) now stand at almost €45 million and that €464 million has been issued through 37,571 TAMS 2 payments.
