The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) issued over €39 million in scheme payments to farmers this week.
The latest data shows that the majority of the payments related to the €32.4 million issued under the Tillage and Horticulture Support Scheme.
The payment will be made on eligible tillage and horticulture crops that were declared on farmers’ 2024 Basic Income Support for Sustainability (BISS) applications.
Under Budget 2025, funding was secured to deliver on the government’s commitment for a €100/ha payment to support tillage and horticulture growers who planted crops for the 2024 harvest, amid difficult weather conditions.
The department said that 10,868 herds are eligible for the tillage and horticulture payments, based on 2024 BISS applications.
The data also shows that over €1.6 million was issued this week to farmers under the 2024 BISS and and Complimentary Redistributive Income Support for Sustainability (CRISS).
118,689 farmers have now received a total of €835 million in payments under these measures.
The figure above includes the 2024 Complementary Income Support for Young Farmers of €34.4 million and the 2024 National Reserve of €3 million.
Almost €1.9 million was issued to farmers in the 2024 Eco-Scheme bringing the overall total paid out to €303 million to 118,085 farmers.
Some €1.85 million was issued under the new Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Schemes (TAMS 3), while just over €100,000 was paid out under TAMS 2.
The department said that €185,710 was paid under the Areas of Natural Constraint (ANC) and Areas of Specific Constraint (ASC).
€686,000 was issued to farmers participating in the Organic Farming Scheme (OFS). €48 million has now been paid to 4,640 farmers under the 2024 scheme.
A further €295,000 was issued to farmers under the Straw Incorporation Measure (SIM) and €30,525 was paid to farmers under the Protein Aid Scheme.
DAFM issued €17,400 to participants in the Red Clover Scheme and just over €9,000 to farmers in the Multi Species Sward (MSS) Scheme.
The data also shows €26,000 was paid this week to farmers who participated in the Green, Low-carbon, Agri-Environment Scheme (GLAS).
