Producer prices for dairy products rose by 9.8% over the 12 months to November 2024, according to new figures published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO) today (Monday, December 23).
The latest Wholesale Price Index for November 2024 from the CSO shows that in general producer prices for products sold on the domestic market were 1.2% higher in November 2024 compared with November 2023.Â
On average producer prices for food products increased by 3% in the 12 months to November 2024, while the food products, beverages and tobacco index was up by 2.5%.
Dairy products recorded one of the “most notable changes” in relation to producer prices for food products over the 12 months to November 2024.
Meat and meat products also rose by a more modest 3%, while bakery and farinaceous products increased by 3.5%.
Meanwhile producer prices for grain milling, starches and animal feeds fell back by 3.8%.
CSO
The latest Wholesale Price Index also highlights that wholesale electricity prices rose by 18.2% in the month to November 2024 and were 18.9% higher than November 2023.
However they were 62.3% lower than “the peak” in August 2022.
Separately the latest CSO analysis shows that wholesale prices for construction products decreased by 0.1% in the month to November 2024 but rose by 0.9% in the 12 months since November 2023.
Major increases and decreases in prices for construction products in the 12 months under review included:
- Sand and gravel up 8.9%;
- Other structural steel up 7.9%,
- Concrete blocks and bricks up 6.9%,
- Cement up 5.7%,
- Reinforcing metal down10.1%.
Other key changes in producer prices in the year to November 2024 included mining and quarrying – which increased by 3.4% – wearing apparel – also up 3.0%.
But producer prices for chemicals and chemical products, slumped by 13.4% and rubber and plastic products fell back by 3.1% in the year to November 2024.
