Copa Cogeca launches innovation award for women farmers

Copa Cogeca, the umbrella organisation representing European farmers and agri cooperatives, has launched the eighth edition of its innovation award for women farmers.

The award, in collaboration with Corteva Agriscience, acknowledges and celebrates the contributions of women who have pioneered innovative solutions, driving sustainability across the EU's agriculture sector.

Since its creation in 2010, each edition of the biennial award has focused on a specific theme.

The 2025 edition of the award for is entitled “Women making waves in sustainable water systems”.

Through the award, Copa Cogeca wants to showcase the important contributions of women in addressing water-related challenges.

The award seeks to support groundbreaking solutions developed by women farmers and producers to enhance water efficiency, conservation, and accessibility in farming communities.

"When there are discussions about moving towards more sustainable agricultural practices, it’s impossible to ignore the importance of water in everyday farming practices.

"Water resource management has become a priority to ensure the resilience of rural communities and our economic, social, and environmental ecosystems.

"The uncertainties related to climate variability, combined with extreme weather phenomena, impose the need for innovative strategies for the management and distribution of water resources," Copa Cogeca said.
