Roles at Organic Trust
The Organic Trust is looking to fill two vacant roles, one for a certification officer and one for a members relations coordinator.
The certification officer will report directly to the certification team leader, and will work with the inspection and certification team and in tandem with other certification officers.
The role will cover administrative and member support responsibilities, including managing the organic inspection and certification process.
The member relations coordinator role will involve working closely with the Organic Trust teams and its members to devise and project-manage a customer service plan, identifying ways to improve members’ experiences.
The role will also involve standardising all correspondence with members to develop the trust’s ‘voice’ and the look and feel of its communications.
The position reports directly to the CEO and works collaboratively with the Organic Trust quality manager, inspector manager, operations manager, and communications department.
Temporary advisors
Teagasc is looking to take on temporary advisors, specifically as agricultural development officers grade 1.
These officers play a central role in the delivery of advisory, education and training services within Teagasc. Advisors are involved in the development of agriculture in a particular geographic region.
This competition seeks to establish recruitment panels from which temporary advisor vacancies in advisory regions will be filled. Candidates may apply for a maximum of up to two advisory regions. Once established, the panel will remain in place for 12 months unless exhausted earlier.
Requirements for this position include candidates with a Level 8 degree in agricultural science or equivalent, which includes soil science.
Financial controller
Agriland Media, Ireland’s largest agricultural news publisher, is looking to hire a financial controller.
You will be a valued member of our senior management team, reporting to the managing director. You will be our senior finance specialist and will make a significant contribution to directing and defining our continued growth.
Key responsibilities will include monthly general ledger processing, and preparation of monthly accounts; reconciling balance sheet accounts and ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date; and analysing management accounts to identify potential problem areas, among many other responsibilities.
Jobs at Gurteen College
Gurteen College is looking to fill two positions for a teacher and beef enterprise unit manager.
There is a two-year contract post for a teacher/lecturer at Gurteen College. A panel may be formed from which future similar vacancies will be filled. Such a panel will remain active for a maximum period of 12 months.
The successful candidate will be teaching on part-time and distance adult education courses. They will be expected to teach and assess a range of subjects including, but not limited to, livestock husbandry, farm business, grassland management and soils and environment, across both Level 5 and 6.
The role will involve delivery of distance education and/or part-time programmes, and playing a key part in ensuring the effective delivery of the programmes, among several other responsibilities.
Gurteen College is also seeking to recruit an experienced person to run its beef enterprise, which consists of of 70 suckler cows plus replacements, 120 finishing cattle, plus 120 young stock.
The successful candidate will report directly to the farm manager. Duties will include herd health, calving, breeding and grassland management. Regular reporting of herd performance will be required.
The ideal candidate will have previous experience of running a beef herd, and a working knowledge of cattle health, breeding, calving, and grassland management.
Agri technical sales advisor
An agri-business in the west Co. Cork area is looking for an agri technical sales advisor, who should ideally be from the area; have a good agricultural education; a relevant third level qualification; and an excellent knowledge of animal nutrition, milk/livestock production and tillage farming.
The successful candidate will provide livestock and agronomy customers with technical advice and support to maximise milk production, improve live weight gain and increase crop yields.
Key responsibilities will include increasing market share and developing new business with customers, and providing relevant product information to assist customers in buying choices.
Veterinary area sales manager
Due to retirement, a leading Irish distributor of animal health products to veterinary practices, co-ops and licensed merchants is recruiting an agricultural or veterinary graduate to fill the role of veterinary area sales manager.
The job entails managing an established territory with a focus on large animal products; ensuring sales targets are met and market potential is achieved for the product portfolio; and educating and keeping customers up to date on all products within the portfolio.
Candidates will require a third level qualification in agriculture or a related subject; and animal health industry experience, with vet practice being a distinct advantage.
Herd manager
A herd manager position is available on a 300-cow dairy farm in Co. Kilkenny, which is described as a great learning opportunity for someone looking to accelerate their progression in the industry.
Ongoing on- and off-farm training will be provided, with the opportunity of profit-share within 18 months for the right person.
