The opening was marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the new location, which Aurivo said features a "greatly enhanced" offering, including a garden centre, and a paint and colour consultation centre.

The store was formally a Homeland Agri store. The upgraded premises will over an expanded product range.

This will include clothing, DIY and hardware material, agri-products, fuel, pet food, paint, and gardening material.

The official opening saw attendees enjoy exclusive offers and a range of refreshments.

Aurivo chairperson Raymond Barlow officially opened the store, alongside Aurivo chief executive Donal Tierney, Aurivo general manager for agri-business Sheila Maloney, and store manager Megan O'Rourke.

Commenting on the new store, Maloney said: "Homeland Longford’s new location allows us to broaden our offering for our existing and new customers.

"The addition of our 13th Garden Centre and a new paint and colour consultation centre greatly enhances our offering, providing customers with greater choice and access to specialist expertise," Maloney added.

"Our team have worked incredibly hard to deliver this enhanced experience, and we hope that customers from across the region will enjoy all that the new store has to offer," she said.

Earlier this year, Aurivo announced that Tierney will step down as chief executive of the co-op next year.
