Almost one third of TAMS tranche 5 applications approved

The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) has now approved nearly one third of the applications made under tranche 5 of the Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3).

The scheme provides grants to farmers to build and/or improve a specified range of farm buildings and equipment on their holding.

The latest data published by the department shows that 1,868 (32%) of the 5,823 applications submitted for this tranche have been approved.

There are 3,686 applications still to be assessed, 198 have been rejected and 71 withdrawn from the scheme.

The latest data shows that 366 applications made under tranche 4 of TAMS are deemed to be still “in progress”. 5,080 out of 5,864 applications made under that round have secured approval.

There are also 39 cases outstanding in tranche 3. The department said that 3,392 of the 3,799 tranche 3 applications have been approved.

Tranche 7 of the scheme is currently open for applications, with the closing date on June 6, 2025.

A three-week tranche of TAMS 3, which opened in response to the unprecedented damage caused to the agriculture sector by Storm Éowyn, closed for applications last Friday (March 28).
