Over the course of two special video programmes at 7:00p.m on Tuesday, March 4 and Thursday, March 6, all aspects of the Corrigan family farm will be on display, presented by Agriland dairy journalist, Hugh Harney.

Eoin along with his wife Róisín and his parents Sean and Catherine run a busy 260-cow spring calving herd near Trim, Co. Meath. The Corrigans are new entrants having joined Lakeland Dairies and the dairy industry in 2021.

In that short time, the Corrigan family have become a top-class operation having won a Lakeland Dairies Quality Milk Award in 2024 and represented the co-op at the NDC / Kerrygold Milk Quality Awards.

The special programme called 'Farming for the Future' will begin with the episode entitled 'The Spring Surge'.

This episode will bring viewers into the calving area and calf pens with Eoin Corrigan to see how he ensures the delivery of healthy calves into the herd.

Eoin will discuss how he manages family life at this busy time and how he is working to provide for his young family.

Peter Grogan from Lakeland Dairies Agribusiness also explains how he works hand-in-hand with farmers like Eoin to drive efficiency and increased profitability at farm level.

The second episode, 'Farming for the Future: A Sustainable Future', will delve into what the dairy industry will look like for farmers.

Specifically some of the topics covered include: How will co-ops and farmers navigate new environmental realities?; what the industry is doing to protect the nitrates derogation; and are young people still considering dairying as a career option?

Joe Patton from Teagasc, as well as Eamon Duignan from Lakeland Dairies and Lakeland Dairies chairperson Niall Matthews will all contribute.

Speaking ahead of the broadcast, Niall Matthews said:

“We are thrilled to partner with Agriland Media on this innovative and exciting broadcast series. Going behind the scenes during the busy spring calving season is a huge ask and we thank Eoin and his family for their bravery to allow cameras to follow them around.

"Dairying is a busy but hugely rewarding industry with a bright future. When we see a progressive and innovative farm like the Corrigans, we can be safe in the knowledge that the industry is in good hands," Mathews added.

Speaking about the future of Irish dairying, Mathews said: "Lakeland Dairies is committed to backing and supporting our farm families by fighting to retain the derogation while aiming to deliver a sustainable income for them.”

Managing Director of Agriland Media, Cormac Farrelly added: "At Agriland, we know farming, we respect farming and we understand the challenges and opportunities it presents.

"That's why we are thrilled to to be working with Lakeland Dairies on such an innovative project, using video and digital media to showcase the real-life day-to-day operation of a busy dairy farm,

"We hope other farmers will be able to relate to the challenges facing the Corrigans and also benefit from tips and advice which might help with their own dairy enterprise."

The first episode of the programme will be available to view on the Agriland platform at 7:00p.m tomorrow Tuesday, March 4.

The second episode will be available on Agriland at 7:00p.m on Thursday, March 6. Please feel free to share the programme and engage with us across our social media channels.
