The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) issued a total of 60 forestry licences last week.
According to the latest data, published by the department, 24 of the licences were for private felling and 18 related to Coillte felling.
Seven licences covered afforestation and the remaining 11 were for forestry roads.
Up to last Friday (June 13), DAFM has issued 408 private felling licences and a further 162 for felling at Coillte sites around the country.
The combined felling licences issued cover a total of 6,783ha.
The department has received 560 valid applications for private felling so far this year and 173 for Coillte felling.
The data shows that 217 afforestation licences for 1,660ha have been issued by the department, with 197 applications submitted.
A total of 1,366ha of forestry has been planted so far this year, with 123ha planted so far in June.
DAFM noted that the figures for afforestation planted in 2025 reflect afforestation that has been paid at first grant stage this year to date only, including the Native Area Tree Scheme (NTAS).
283 licences have been issued for 98km of forestry roads; 40km of roads have been constructed so far in 2025. Last year, 77km of roads were constructed, which was the same as 2023.
In terms of afforestation schemes, DAFM has issued 128 licences have been approved for the NTAS (140ha) and 19 licences for the Climate Resilient Reforestation Scheme, covering 110ha.
There have been 231 licences issued by the department so far this year for the Reconstitution of Ash Dieback Scheme, relating to 721ha.
66 licences have been granted for the Woodland Improvement Scheme (347ha) and 62 for the Deer Tree Shelter scheme (268ha).
Two licences have been issued for the Native Woodland Conservation Scheme this year for 17ha.
