14 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed at the ABP processing facility in Clones, Co. Monaghan, following the testing of all staff there.

The processing company said: “Following the screening of all 335 staff at ABP Clones, the company has been notified of 14 positive Covid-19 cases.”

ABP said that the testing was carried out with Health Service Executive (HSE) approval. The close contacts of those cases are self-isolating, the processor added.

The screening was part of a response following the notification that two workers had tested positive last week.

ABP has limited the operations at the site as a precaution on foot of these test results.

Cahir

The confirmation of these test results comes a day after the results of testing were confirmed for staff at ABP Cahir in Co. Tipperary.

The processor confirmed 22 cases of Covid-19 at the Cahir plant, following the testing of 460 staff.

Testing of close contacts of positive cases at the plant by the HSE identified an additional 16 cases.

The total number of positive cases as a result of this testing is 38, an ABP spokesperson said.

As a precaution, the Cahir site has been operating at a limited capacity since the first positive test on August 14. The company said it continues to work in close collaboration with the HSE.
