This weekend may see a rush to cut silage as the weather promises to be dry but dull in most areas.
Today will be breezy, with moderate to fresh and gusty southwesterly winds and maximum temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees according to Met Eireann.
It will be warm and humid with inland areas staying mostly dry. Some sunny spells will develop in parts of the midlands, east and south.
Atlantic coastal counties will be dull and misty while more persistent rain will move in across Connacht and west Ulster later today.
Tonight rain in the northwest will gradually move southeastwards across the country, with the rain being mostly light and patchy.
It will stay mild and humid overnight in the south of the country, but it will turn fresher in the north and west.
Saturday
Tomorrow will be a mainly dry day with sunny spells though it may stay dull and damp for a time on south and southeast coasts.
It will be another warm and humid day in many parts of the south and east with maximum temperatures between 19 and 22 degrees.
But it will be cooler in the north and west with highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees. Westerly winds will be light to moderate.
Sunday
According to Met Eireann, Sunday is looking dry in many areas as well with a mix of cloud and sunshine. The warmest weather will be in the south and east again with temperatures around 20 degrees.
It will be a bit cooler in the west and north with a chance of some rain in coastal parts. Westerly winds will be mostly light.
The weather will remain changeable early next week, however there is a good chance of some more warm and dry weather in the east and south.
The west and north are likely to stay cooler and duller with a higher chance of rain according to Met Eireann.
While the coming week will be somewhat unsettled with a mainly west or southwest airflow, rainfall will be below normal in many areas but indications suggest possibly above the average in parts of the northwest.
A good deal of cloud is indicated in the week ahead and sunshine figures are expected to be normal or a bit below.
There are indications that suggest the week ahead could see temperatures of 1 to 2 degrees above the average in places with drying conditions being most moderate but good at times, according to Met Eireann.
Field Conditions
Higher than normal recent rainfall resulted in poor soil moisture deficits in the northern half of the country but soil moisture deficits are moderate over much of Munster and south Leinster.
