A new Limousin record was set at Carlisle this weekend, when Henry Savage & Sons of Northern Ireland sold their bull Trueman Jagger for 140,000gns (€212,000).

Jagger is a son of Ampertaine Gigolo and out of Trueman Grazia. The Limousin was purchased in a five-way partnership of Messrs Jenkinson – Whinfellpark Herd, Penrith; Messrs Alford – Foxhillfarm Herd, Devon; Paul Dawes – Dinmore Herd, Hereford; Messrs Lee & Lloyd – Calogale Herd, Carmarthen & Kedzlie Farms Ltd – Swalesmoor Herd, Galashiels.

Meanwhile, selling for 45,000gns was Ampertaine Jamboree shown by WJ & J McKay of Co.Derry, N.Ireland. Jamboree is also a son of Ampertaine Gigolo and out of a Wilodge Cerberus sired mother, Ampertaine Fifi. He was sold to Messrs Dick for their Ronick Herd, Stirling.

The Junior Male Champion, Ballinloan Jaegerbomb, from Stuart Fotheringham, Perth sold for 24,000gns. Jaegerbomb is by Ampertaine Foreman and out of a Neuf daughter, Ballinloan Fruttela.

He has already had a successful show record to his credit this year having won 1st prize at RHS, Male Champion Perth Show and Reserve Male Champion Limousin National Show Turriff Show.

Successful purchasers were Messrs Handley of the Gunnerfleet Herd. The overall average for 85 bulls was £8,709.44.

Topping the Limousin female sale at Carlisle was a cow and calf outfit from John Elliot of Kelso which sold for 8000gns. The first lot into the sale ring was Grahams Ethel, a Millgate Clinker daughter, selling in calf to Goldies Forever. She sold for 4,500gns to Messrs O’Kane of York.

Her 12-month-old heifer calf, Roxburgh Jadore a Sympa daughter, was bid over the phone and sold to Gordon Hendry for his Aultmore Herd based in Banffshire for 3,500gns.

Selling for 3,400gns was an incalf heifer also from John Elliot, Roxburgh Isotope an Omer daughter. Out of the 30,000gn Haltcliffe Emerald, she sold in calf to Ampertaine Foreman and joins the Raysonhall herd for Messrs Hill of Appleby.

Also selling for 3,400gns was a cow and calf unit from Normand Cruickshank. Normande Hooker, a daughter of Elegante Envy out of a Ravageur bred mother and in calf to Roundhill Hamlet, she was sold to Keith Causer of Rugby.
