Teagasc is set to run a number of open days at its Agricultural Colleges across the country for prospective students in the coming days and weeks.
Schools, students, teachers and parents are all invited to attend any of the upcoming open days, Head of Education at Teagasc, Tony Petit, said.
These events provide a unique opportunity to update visitors on career opportunities, as well as Teagasc course offerings, in the land-based sector, he added.
At these open days, visitors will receive information on all further and higher level courses in agriculture, horticulture, equine studies and forestry.
They will also receive an outline of careers in agriculture, agri-business, amenity and production horticulture, forestry, horse-breeding and training, according to Teagasc.
There will be guided tours of the teaching and recreational facilities at each college. Visits to the colleges’ farming and horticulture enterprises will also be provided.
Prospective students who attend an open day will get the chance to talk to college teaching staff and educational experts, as well as students currently enrolled in the college.
The latest series of Teagasc college open days got underway last week, with open days already taking place in both Mountbellew Agricultural College in Co. Galway and Kildalton Agricultural College in Co. Kilkenny.

College Of Amenity Horticulture
On Thursday, March 9, the College of Amenity Horticulture, Teagasc, National Botanic Gardens, is having its open day.

Ballyhaise Agricultural College
Also on Thursday, March 9, Ballyhaise Agricultural College in Co. Cavan is hosting its open day.

Clonakilty Agricultural College
On Friday, March 10, Clonakilty Agricultural College is having its open day between 11am and 2pm.

Gurteen Agricultural College
On Wednesday, March 15, Gurteen Agricultural College is having its open day between 10.30am and 12.30pm.

Finally, on Thursday, March 23, Pallaskenry Agricultural College will have its open day between 10am and 2pm.
