This artist’s impression (pictured above) depicts a modern, re-imagined 90 Series Fiat (Fiatagri) tractor.

It appears that New Holland (encompassing the tractor brand that descended from both Fiat and Ford), in conjunction with CNH Industrial’s eager design team, set about creating a vision for what a Fiat tractor would look like – in the modern age.

A real-life concept version is currently in position – on New Holland’s stand at the EIMA 2018 show in Bologna, Italy. It’s currently hidden under a veil; it’s set to be revealed to the public tomorrow (when the exhibition officially opens its doors).

‘Fiat Centenario’

The tractor has been brought into being, apparently, to commemorate the 100-year-old legacy of Fiat tractors. The concept (on display) is apparently known as the ‘Fiat Centenario‘.

The history of Fiat Trattori – to refer to it by its proper title at the time – began in 1918, with the launch of the 702 model.

Fiat Trattori (SpA) – a Fiat group company – was actually founded in 1919. Over the decades, Fiat established itself as Italy’s (and one of Europe’s) biggest tractor manufacturers.

In 1991, Ford New Holland was absorbed into the Fiat empire. Later, in 1999, New Holland acquired Case Corporation to create CNH Global, in which Fiat Industrial was the majority shareholder. CNH Industrial was established in 2013.

Alas, the Fiat (or Fiatagri) brand-name no longer adorns new tractors. CNH Industrial now markets its tractors under the New Holland, Case IH and Steyr banners.

It’s worth noting that Fiat’s (Fiatagri’s) 90 Series was (and still is) held in especially high esteem in many parts of Ireland.

We once went so far as to say that the now-famous 110-90 is like one of those dead poets – reasonably well appreciated when they were alive (or while they were still being built, in tractor terms) but inexplicably lauded now that they’ve passed on!
