A new rural TV show hopes good farmhouse cooking can help pair up single farmers with potential love matches.

‘Coortin’ In the Kitchen’ is all about hearth and home – farming life, family history, good food, family stories and a deep love of the land.

Leana Arrell, from production company Alleycats which is behind the series, said: “A farming life is full of reward but it’s hard work – long hours don’t help when it comes to romance. What’s more, finding someone who shares the same passion for land and livestock is really important.

In this series we want to be home on the farm with a lovely Ulster farming family – cooking, working and having the banter.

But it’s not just the singles who will get a say in this one, parents and grandparents are going to play matchmaker for their single son or daughter.

“They’ll be drawing up a list of criteria for the ideal match and being ‘the right kind of farmer’ will be top of it,” Arrell added.

“They’ll be choosing someone who shares the same values. After all: Mum very often knows best.

On this blind date – our suitor will be coming for a home-cooked dinner with the whole family!

“There’ll be plenty of craic, storytelling and a bit of dancing in the kitchen can be expected.

“This is a warm-hearted series for all the family where we get close to a real farming family and the new friend who comes to dinner.

“The family history, traditions and interaction are at the heart of this series. And who knows – romance might blossom when there’s coortin’ in the kitchen.”
