Met Éireann has issued a new Status Yellow low temperature / ice warning for Ireland.
Issued at 11:00am this morning (Thursday, January 7), the alert will be valid from 5:00pm this evening through to 11:00am tomorrow.
This follows on from two weather warnings for snow and ice yesterday, which expired this morning.
Meanwhile, the UK Met Office has issued a Yellow ice warning for the six counties of Northern Ireland.
The Met Office says that icy stretches are expected this afternoon and throughout tomorrow morning. This warning will be valid from 2:00pm today through to 12:00pm tomorrow.
For today in general, Met Éireann says that light sleet and snow will continue to spread southwards during the morning with slight accumulations of snow combined with ice leading to treacherous conditions on untreated surfaces.
Highs will range from 1° to 4° in a light to moderate northwest breeze, with any lying snow slow to clear, the meteorological office concludes.
