Met Éireann has issued three Status Yellow weather warnings for the coming days with risks of localised flooding in places.

Issued at 12:00pm today (Thursday, October 22), the warnings will affect eight counties in total.

A Status Yellow rainfall warning has been issued for counties Galway and Mayo. This alert will be valid from 9:00pm tomorrow night, through to 9:00am on Saturday morning.

In these counties, the national meteorological office warns that rain tomorrow evening through to Saturday morning will lead to accumulations of 20-40mm, with higher accumulations in mountainous areas.

This will bring a risk of localised flooding and heightened risk of flash flooding in mountainous areas, the office says.

Meanwhile, a Status Yellow wind warning has been issued for counties: Donegal; Galway; Mayo; Clare; and Kerry.

This alert will come into effect at 10:00pm tomorrow night; it will remain in place until 7:00am on Saturday.

A second wind alert has been issued for counties Wexford, Waterford and Cork, valid from 12:01am on Saturday morning, through to 11:00am on Saturday.

Under both warnings, Met Éireann cautions that south to southwest winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65kph with gusts of 90 to 110kph.

Winds speeds may be higher in coastal and exposed areas, the forecaster says.
