A man was seriously injured and a number of cattle were killed in an incident where a livestock lorry overturned on a bridge in Co. Wexford earlier today, Saturday, July 25.

Confirming the news, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said: “Gardaí in Wexford are investigating a serious injury road traffic collision that occurred on Ferrycarrig Bridge, Wexford at approximately 1:50pm this afternoon, Saturday, July 25.

“A cattle truck lost control driving over the bridge and overturned in the process onto an unoccupied parked car.

The male driver, aged 34 years, was seriously injured during the collision. He has been removed to Wexford General Hospital and remains in a serious condition. A number of cattle were fatally injured during the collision.

Garda Forensic Collision Investigators are currently examining the scene and the bridge remains closed at this time with local diversions in place, the Garda representative added.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who was travelling on the road from 1:45pm to 2:00pm, or anyone who was in the area this afternoon and may have witnessed the collision to get in touch, particularly any road users with dash cam footage.
