Macra na Feirme has elected a new National Executive following the National AGM that took place last Saturday, May 7, in the Abbey Court Hotel in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary.

The new National Chairman of Macra is Ger Griffin, the Munster Vice President with Seán Wallace from Cork and Odile Evans, Lenister Vice President taking up the respective roles of National Secretary and National Treasurer.

They are joined by 21 new National Council Representatives and 17 existing representatives, Macra said.

The new National Council Representatives (NCRs) are from the counties, Carlow, Cavan, Clare, Carbery, Seandun, Donegal, Dublin, Kilkenny, Laois, Leitrim, Limerick, Longford, Louth, Mayo, Monaghan, Roscommon, South Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford and Wicklow, as well as Associate Representative and Members Representative.

A new National Council is elected every second year at the AGM while a new National Executive is elected every year.

A new National Executive was established for the year with seven new members from Mayo, Kilkenny, Kildare, Meath, Seandun, North Tipperary and Offaly.

Chairpersons of Macra’s three sub-committees, Agricultural Affairs; Rural Youth and Competitions were elected as:

  • Agricultural Affairs – James Barber, Laois.
  • Rural Youth – Cara O’Mahony, Kildare (re-elected).
  • Competitions – Mary Anne Murphy, Avondhu.

Speaking at the event, National President, Seán Finan, welcomed all the new NCRs and wished them a great term representing their counties.

He also thanked Arrabawn and ABP Food Group for being event partners and congratulated the organising committee in North Tipperary Macra for successfully coordinating the day’s proceedings.
