Mid-sized tractors are the primary workhorse for many farms, turning their hand to a huge range of tasks from loader work and haulage to mowing, raking, baling and even cultivation.

Versatility is therefore crucial for these machines, and that’s where Kubota’s MGX-IV range steals a march on the competition.

These ultimate all-rounders feature powerful four-cylinder engines, a slick semi-powershift transmission, strong hydraulics and a tight turning circle. All of this means they’re equally at home on mucking-out duties or loading bales as they are running a premium mower conditioner, such as Kubota’s high-performance DMC range.

Powerful 4-cylinder engines

The two smaller MGX-IV models, the M95GX and M105GX, from 104-111hp, are powered by Kubota’s own gutsy 3.8L engine, while the three largest tractors have a 6.1L block that delivers 123-143hp.

All meet the Euro IV emissions standard and, thanks to their excellent fuel economy and rugged reliability, running costs are kept to a minimum. There’s also a large 150-amp alternator to make sure there’s ample power for ancillary equipment and implements that draw large amounts of current.

Versatile transmission

To make best use of the engines’ power output, the MGX-IV range uses a smooth 24-speed Intelli-Shift transmission with eight powershifts in three ranges. With double the powershifts of some competitor machines, these tractors deliver a wide range of working speeds without needing to use the clutch to shift ranges.

For ultimate flexibility, operators can choose to change powershifts manually or select an automatic mode that finds the most suitable ratio for the task in hand. There’s even the option of a creeper range that increases the number of gears to 32.

Hydraulics are equally impressive, with the rear linkage on M115GX, M125GX and M135GX models able to lift 6,100kg. Smaller M95GX and M105GX models can lift 5,000kg, which is considerable for their size.

Two spool valves are offered as standard, while there’s the option of upgrading to four, and it’s possible to adjust flows in the cab to fine-tune the operation of implements. High-flow pumps also ensure the fast operation of front-end loaders.

Unrivalled manoeuvrability

Exceptional manoeuvrability adds to the MGX IV’s prowess as a loader tractor. The 4.1m or 4.5m (depending on the model) turning radius makes negotiating tight yards with narrow openings a breeze.

Also, thanks to a system that automatically disengages the four-wheel drive system at steep steering angles, these tractors are equally adept at performing swift headland turns in the field.

As for the operator, they’re treated to a spacious four-pillar air-conditioned cabin that features anti-reflection glass for clear views in all directions and a neat control layout on the right-hand side for simple operation.

Two engine speed memory functions make it quick to switch between working and turning speeds on headlands, and there’s an RPM work speed function to ensure a constant engine and PTO speed.

Primed for precision farming

Added to that, all MGX-IV models are precision agriculture ready, with optional kits available to make them Isobus compatible and capable of running GPS autosteer.

The Isobus-certified IsoMatch Tellus monitors allows MGX-IV tractors to work seamlessly with Kubota’s comprehensive range of implements as well as any Isobus-compatible machines from other manufacturers.

For example, teaming an MGX-IV with one of Kubota’s DSM-W Geospread spreaders allows ultra-accurate application of fertiliser. Thanks to automatic section control, accurate weighing and Geopoint headland management, these machines can achieve savings of 15%.

Kubota’s full line of market-leading equipment means the MGX-IV has a perfectly matched implement for almost all tasks. These include the SE range of flail mowers, a host of plain disc and conditioner mowers, tedders, rakes, fixed and variable-chamber round balers, and wrappers.

Extended warranty

All Kubota tractors come with an extensive manufacturer warranty as standard but, for added peace of mind, buyers can extend this for up to five years with the innovative Kubota Care package.

This removes the risk and expense of downtime and, because it can be transferred to the next owner, it adds to the second-hand value of the machine. The extended warranty is also tailored to customers’ individual requirements according to how much work they do with the tractor.

Kubota Care is provided by a nationwide network of dealers with all work undertaken by trained technicians using genuine parts and lubricants.
