Ireland continues to hold seventh place on the Livestock and Meat Commission’s (LMC) EU deadweight cattle prices league table.

For the week ending November 1, 2015 the average Irish R3 heifer price was 394.6c/kg.

This is an increase of 1.4c/kg from the 393.2c/kg paid in the week ending October 4, 2015.

This placed it 0.8c/kg above the EU average price and 53.1c/kg lower than the equivalent price in Northern Ireland according to the LMC.

Looking to Northern Ireland in the week ending November 1, 2015 the average R3 heifer price in Northern Ireland was the equivalent of 447.7c/kg.

According to the LMC, this latest price is up 7.0c/kg from 440.7c/kg in the week ending October 4, /2015.

The Northern Ireland R3 heifer price was 53.9c/kg higher than the EU average in the week ending November 1 compared to 47.7c/kg in the week ending October 4, 2015.

Northern Ireland has regained the second place spot on the EU deadweight cattle prices league table after it knocked Sweden into third place.

Britain continues to retain the top spot on the league table. For the week ending November 1, the average R3 heifer price was the equivalent of 487.9c/kg.

According to the LMC, this is an increase of 4.0c/kg compared to week ending October 4, 2015 when it was the equivalent of 483.9c/kg.

This increase in the British heifer price resulted in the British/EU price differential widening from 90.9c/kg in the week ending October 4, 2015 to 94.1c/kg in the week ending November 1.

Looking at the EU, the average R3 heifer price in the EU was 393.8c/kg, up 0.8c/kg from 393.0c/kg in the week ending October 4, 2015.

The euro was down at €1=72p in the week ending November 1, 2015.
