Leading food industry experts are set to discuss the ‘critical issues‘ facing the Irish food industry due to Brexit at an upcoming event in Co. Cork.

Guest speakers, Tara McCarthy; CEO of Bord Bia and John Finn; Managing Director of Treasury Solutions, will offer their insights into the situation.

Strategies to address the proposed critical issues caused by Brexit will also be discussed at the event, which will take place on Thursday, April 6 in the Clayton Silversprings Hotel, Co. Cork.

Other industry experts will later join the guest speakers in a panel discussion, which will include an outline of some of the measures already being taken by firms in the food sector.

The conference is being organised by Buckley, Kiely and Co. – an accountancy and business advisory firm based in Co. Cork, in association with Afex Solutions.

The discussion is set to be chaired by Michael Cronin from Agrifood Business Partners.

Other speakers will include Professor Thia Hennessey, Department of Food Business at the UCC Business School and Alan Jagoe, the President of CEJA European Council of Young Farmers.

Mary Daly Murphy, CEO of The Food Safety Company and Trevor Charsley, Senior Markets Adviser at Afex Solutions will also take part in discussions.
