Glanbia Ireland has nominated experienced co-op director Diarmuid Lally to the board of Ornua cooperative.
Lally will step down from the boards of Glanbia Co-operative Society and Glanbia Ireland on October 6, 2020.
According to the Kilkenny headquartered co-op, the Ornua board nominee has “extensive relevant experience”, having served two years on the boards of Glanbia Co-op and Glanbia Ireland and over three years on the Board of Farmer Business Developments plc.
He has previously been elected to the Irish Farmers’ Association (IFA) National Council and the position of chairman of the Fresh Milk Producers (FMP) representative body.
As Lally must complete a six-month period between stepping down from the Glanbia Ireland Board and joining the Ornua board, the board of Glanbia Ireland has nominated former Glanbia group chairman Henry Corbally to the board of Ornua for the interim six months.
Corbally retired from the Glanbia board in June 2018.
Ornua Structural Shake-Up
Earlier this month, Ornua received the green light from its members to undergo a governance structural shake-up of the Irish dairy exporting cooperative, which will see the formation of two separate entities to govern the company.
“Ornua will now be seeking nominations from member suppliers of non-conflicted directors and the selection process for the independent non-executive directors is also underway,” an Ornua spokesperson said at the time.
