Glanbia Ireland’s agri-business branches in the counties of Laois, Kildare and Offaly have reverted back to a ‘call and collect’ service, the company has confirmed.

Customers will not be able to enter the shop area for this period.

This follows the reintroduction of limited restrictions in the counties of Laois, Kildare and Offaly due to an increase in coronavirus (Covid-19) cases in that region.

As part of ongoing efforts to contain Covid-19, Glanbia confirmed that from yesterday, Monday, August 10, for two weeks, customers in these three counties will be asked to place their orders from branches in advance by phone.

This call and collect measure is in relation to orders that would usually have been made in person by customers calling to such branches.

According to the agri-business giant, the system will operate as follows:
  • Please phone your branch in advance with your number;
  • Payment will be taken on account or processed over the phone;
  • Customers will be given an allotted time-slot for their collection;
  • Store staff will bring the goods to the car/trailer or a dedicated point in the store yard;
  • Please roll down window, confirm identity and order number;
  • Customers should stay in their vehicle until staff have left the pick-up point area.

With the grain harvest ongoing, Glanbia says it has a protocol in place to help safeguard staff and suppliers as they deliver grain into harvest intake points in the coming days and weeks.

A spokesperson said:

“We are asking all suppliers to join the queue at the weighbridge or the sampling point and to please remain in their vehicle.

It is important that grain suppliers only exit their vehicle when signalled to do so by the grain intake operator.

“In line with recent government advisories, please also wear a facemask when exiting vehicles to make deliveries at our grain intake facilities,” the spokesperson concluded.
