An appeal for information has been made by An Garda Síochána after a quad bike was stolen from a shed in Co. Monaghan – the latest in a spate of thefts.

The quad was taken from a farm near Ballinode on Sunday night (September 27), according to local Gardaí.

Taking to social media on Monday, Gardaí based in the Cavan/Monaghan region said:

This Honda 500 quad was stolen from a shed in the townland of Tullaghan, Ballinode [Sunday] night between 11:00pm and 7:00am this morning.

“If you saw anything suspicious during the night in that area or can offer any information please contact Monaghan Garda Station on: 047-77240.”

Previous thefts

This follows previous incidents last week, when a 4X4 and a quad bike were taken in two overnight raids which occurred in Co. Monaghan.

The thefts are believed to have occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, September 22, according to Gardaí.

In a brief statement to AgriLand, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána said:

Gardaí are investigating the theft of a jeep from a property in Scotshouse, in the early hours of Tuesday, September 22.

“They are also investigating the theft of a quad bike from a property in Rockcorry, Co. Monaghan, that occurred overnight.

“No arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing,” the spokesperson added.
