Irish farmers have faced significant media coverage over issues, such as the anticipated loss of the nitrates derogation, as well as concerns surrounding Ireland’s Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme (ACRES) and Straw Incorporation Measure (SIM).
2023/2024 has witnessed farmer protests across six European member states, as agricultural communities push back against policies impacting their livelihoods.
Against this backdrop, it comes as no surprise that Irish farmers overwhelmingly believe they should have a greater say in shaping the policies that affect them.
Share your opinion
A recent survey conducted by Opinions, conducted on behalf of Agriland and the Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association (ICMSA), revealed that 96% of farmers agree they should be consulted more in the development of agricultural policy.
Furthermore, eight in 10 farmers are concerned about the lack of consultation in decision-making, while over three in four are concerned by constant changes to policy.
In response to these pressing concerns, the AgriOpinions Community has been launched – a specialised research panel created by Agriland and Opinions.
The community’s purpose is to provide a platform where farmers can ensure their voices are heard in shaping the future of Irish agriculture.
Additionally, the insights gathered will be shared with businesses to help them better understand farmers’ needs and create products and services that are more aligned to their requirements.
