The CSO have announced that monthly factory gate prices increased by only 0.7% in July 2013. This compares to an increase of 1.3% for July of last year. As a result, the annual percentage change showed a decrease of 0.2% in July 2013, compared with an increase of 0.4% in the year to June 2013.

On a more positive note, the price index for export sales increased by 0.7% for the month.  However, over the year there was a decrease of 0.9% in the price index for export sales (this can be influenced by currency fluctuations).

In the month of July, the most significant changes were increases in dairy products (+2.9%) while there were decreases in meat and meat products (-0.6%).

Over the past year there were increases in dairy products (+17.5%) and meat and meat products (+3.5%).

Looking at the agricultural costs, the price of energy products decreased by 0.5% in the year since July 2012, while petroleum fuels decreased by 1.5%.  In July 2013, the monthly price index for energy products increased by 0.5%, while petroleum fuels increased by 1.4%.
