Countdown is on to Irish Angus Elite Show and Sale

Get ready for the biggest pedigree Angus event of 2025 - the Irish Angus Cattle Society’s Elite Show and Sale takes place on Saturday, December 6 in Carrick-on-Shannon, Co. Roscommon, and it promises to be an unmissable day.

With Angus demand skyrocketing across beef and dairy farms, the message could not be clearer: “Black is the new Green”.

The breed’s efficiency, environmental benefits, and unbeatable market value have made it the No. 1 choice for today’s progressive farmers - and this sale brings together the very best of what Irish Angus has to offer.

A line-up packed with power, performance, and potential

This year’s Elite Sale features an outstanding selection of 46 bulls and 53 heifers, each one chosen for its quality and pedigree strength.

Many of the animals catalogued are already champions and prize-winners from Ireland’s top shows - proof of the superior bloodlines on offer.

Every entry meets the highest criteria:

  • Bulls: Export and semen tested, sire verified, exhibitor bred, myostatin tested, and pre-sale inspected;
  • Heifers: Export tested, sire verified, exhibitor bred, myostatin tested, and pre-sale inspected.

Angus for dairy and suckler farmers

Dairy farmers

Angus sires offer easy calving, short gestation, and high-quality progeny - traits that ensure cows return to milk production quickly.

Spring calf sales saw exceptional demand, and dairy farmers retaining calves for finishing are benefiting from premium returns with lower inputs.

Simply put, using Angus gives farmers a competitive edge.

Suckler farmers

The surge in commercial Angus prices has caught the attention of suckler breeders.

Angus calves are easy to manage, mature early, and deliver lower-cost production, making them an attractive choice for profit-focused farmers.

With climate-conscious farming increasingly important, Angus cattle are well-positioned to meet future challenges.
