There has been an ‘app-ropriate’ breakthrough for the GAA match programme this month. Say goodbye to unwieldy, printed programmes next time you are in the Big Smoke at Croke Park up for the match.

The GAA have launched a new app that provides all the information you need for the big game, as well as some communication tools and info on important fixtures from yesteryear.

The App Store describes it as a digital and interactive version of Official GAA Match Programmes, including official team line-outs, statistics, photos, editorial and venue information. Also included are GAA-related communications to grassroots and supporters.

“Launched just as the All-Ireland series of the season commenced, interactive digital GAA Official Match Programmes will bring fans even closer to the action, containing essential GAA player and team information, unique content, stats and analysis,” the GAA said in its announcement.

“It has been built from the ground up with Gaelic Games in mind, blending a stunning interface with the latest information, including live stats, news, photo galleries, stadium and ticketing info plus more, with lots more exciting features in the pipeline.”

“The new digital GAA Official Match Programme gives the user the freedom to follow the action at the match or out and about. It provides full team-sheets and match analysis at a glance, with intuitively designed pages that display in-depth statistics.”

“It’s yet another way to access GAA and the quality of the app is a consequence of intelligent planning, design and development by a dedicated team who understand GAA from the perspective of the fan.”

At present, the app is available for iPhone and iPad and programmes can be purchased individually or on a subscription basis. It is available here.
