A tractor run is taking place on Sunday, November 4, in aid of Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin. Tractors participating in the event will depart at 1:00pm from Littlewood Hall, Killabeg, Co. Wicklow.

The event is being organised by Sarah and Eric Driver. All tractors, both new and vintage, are welcome to attend the event.

A cost of €20 per tractor is asked and there will be prizes for the best restored vintage tractor and the cleanest modern tractor. Sponsorship cards are available at €2 per line or three lines for €5.

The route will consist of a round trip encompassing some of the Wicklow Way and back to Littlewood Hall, where Eric has said: “Warm hospitality will be served”.

Commenting on the cause for the event, Eric explained: “It is only when you need Crumlin Hospital that you truly appreciate the excellent service it provides.”

In May 2017 Eric and Sarah found themselves on the road to Crumlin Hospital with their two-week-old son Darragh, wanting to get him seen to as soon as possible.

Eric praised the service in Crumlin Hospital, saying: “From the very minute we walked, or should I say ran, through the doors into Crumlin Hospital, we were taken the greatest care of.

“Our little man was very sick, but the care and attention Darragh and us as parents received was second to none.”

‘Marvellous institution’

Both Sarah and Eric made a promise to themselves that they would raise funds for the “marvellous institution”.

Eric explained that a tractor run seemed like the most fitting way to raise funds, because their little man and his big sister are “mad into the farm and especially John Deere tractors”.

Continuing, Eric said: “It is great to report that Darragh has made a brilliant recovery and early tests suggest he will not have a lifelong issue.”

Concluding, Eric called on the public to join Darragh and his big sister Tara to “get their tractors rolling the Wicklow byways” for Crumlin Hospital.
