According to the IFA’s latest market update sheep factories are generally quoting €5.60c/kg for spring lamb this week.

Latest reports from Bord Bia says the sheep trade showed some recovery in supplies over the past week with lower prices reported.

Supplies for the week ending May 31st stood at around 47,969 head, which is around 2,000 head or 5% higher than the corresponding week in 2013. Cumulative supplies are back around 2% or 16,000 head on 2013 levels.

In Britain, Bord Bia says the trade was generally steady despite some further recovery in supply. The SQQ live price for lambs in England and Wales was making the equivalent of around €6.46/kg dw towards the end of the week.

In France, it says good volumes of Irish lamb were reported on the market. The Irish Grade 1 Spring lamb price was making around €6.72/kg (inclusive of VAT) during the week.
