Potato prices have increased by 213 per cent compared to April last year, according to figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) released  this afternoon.Cereal prices have risen by some 30 per cent in the same period, according to the CSO’s latest Agricultural Price Indices, while vegetable prices rose by 1.6 per cent. The price of animal products – like milk, eggs and wool – was slightly up on a monthly basis but 14.3 per cent higher year-on-year.The cost of feeding stuffs was up by nearly 20 per cent in the year to April, though down marginally on a monthly basis.In addition, animal prices were 4.1 per cent higher overall, with pig prices in particular rising by 10 per cent. Overall, output prices were up 1.1 per cent between March and April and 11.6 per cent higher year-on-year. This compares to a 7.6 per cent annual rise in input prices, which were flat between March and April.
