Cross Agricultural Engineering will host live demos of an Agrifac self-propelled beet harvester at its annual open day, which takes place this Sunday (October 8).

The event will take place at Cross Agricultural Engineering; it will run from 9:00am to 5:00pm and is being described as a “must see” for machinery enthusiasts and beet growers.

As farmers gear up to harvest their own beet, Cross Agricultural Engineering says this is an ideal time to look at such machinery in action. It is also, says the firm, a good opportunity to see different varieties at harvest time.

For those interested in growing beet, there will be 10 varieties on display. These will be harvested and weighed on the day; the highest yielding variety will then be announced.

There will be a series of live demos on the day, including harvesting demos from Agrifac and a new Armer beet harvester – as well as Cross beet washers and choppers.

Away from beet, Cross will have other machinery on show – including tankers, muck spreaders, rollers and furrow presses.

Pedrotti grain dryers will also feature; so too will Prodig attachments, GPS units from Topcon Ireland and more besides.

Crop husbandry advice will be available from Goldcrop.

The famous ‘Grassmen‘ also promise to draw a following; there will be other stands too – expect to see Fendt, New Holland and Case IH tractors, among others. For the machinery enthusiasts, there will be open tours of the factory throughout the day.

Cross Agricultural Engineering is located in Newtown, Rathangan, Co.Kildare.
