A mixture of scattered showers and sunny spells are expected over the Easter weekend, according to Met Eireann.

Outbreaks of rain are set to turn more persistent for a time this morning, but a clearance will spread southwards in the early afternoon.

Isolated showers are expected to break out during the afternoon and evening. Highest temperatures of between 9 to 13 degrees, in moderate westerly breezes, are forecast.

Good drying conditions are possible over the coming days. However, they are expected to deteriorate as showers and longer spells of rain develop; especially in Connacht and Ulster.

There should be plenty of opportunities for spraying during the coming week with generally light winds, but conditions will be poor today, according to Met Eireann.

Meanwhile, all soil types are well-drained and trafficable at present; conditions are set to remain this way for the next week or so.
