Roscommon man’s ‘3-in-1’ machine turns heads at Agritechnica 2017

Founded in Co. Roscommon by David Doran, Acres Machinery specialises in manufacturing “high-quality, robust machinery”.

One of the company’s latest additions – the Supercrop1 – is on show at Agritechnica in Hanover, Germany, this week.

For all intents and purposes, the Supercrop1 is a ‘3-in-1’ machine; it encompasses tedding, rowing and conditioning capabilities. All of these functions are available at the flick of a switch.

Designed out of necessity, Doran told AgriLand that the machine, when used by contractors or farmers, can replace three pieces of kit in the yard – the conditioner, the rake and the tedder.

Replacing such machines with the Supercrop1 is claimed to save 30% in fuel and labour costs. In addition, he said, the machine is receiving a great reception at what is described as the world’s biggest farm machinery show.

Buyers from all over the world were interested in the machine; particularly those based in Scandinavian countries, where the drying of forage crops is dictated by the weather.

About the Supercrop1

Earlier this year, Acres Machinery announced a new co-operation with Sitrex – an Italian company which specialises in the construction of ‘hay equipment’.

As a result of this joining together, the Supercrop1 sat front and centre at the Italian machinery company’s stand at the show. Sitrex is also tasked with manufacturing the machine.

One of the key benefits of the machine is its ‘bolt-on construction’. Essentially, this means that farmers or contractors can buy the conditioner unit first and the raking and rowing arms can be added at a later date.

Suiting most contractors in Ireland, the manufacturer also claims that the machine can be operated on a 100-150hp tractor.

Furthermore, the manufacturer says, the machine can be easily transported. Its transport width is just 2.8m, making the machine easy to move on even the narrowest of roads.
