The Diageo Baileys Irish Champion Dairy Cow Competition, sponsored by Baileys Irish Cream and Glanbia, is back for its 30th year at the Virginia Show in Cavan on 21 August.

After a very successful event last year that attracted one of the biggest entry levels ever the Baileys Cow is once again one of the highlights of the Virginia Show’s, which is located on its own scenic grounds of lough Ramor.  It will be a gathering of all thats good in food, farming and rural Ireland. 3,000 exhibits in 500 classes.

And cows and calved heifers from Donegal to Kerry will compete for the thousand-euro prize fund.

The Virgina Show was recently approved for the maximum funding of €500k from the Department of Environment for the development of the exhibition hall and integrated resource centre. The facility will comprise a large enclosed exhibition space, a community kitchen and associated dining hall, a craft and tourist shop and external space for farmer’s market’s, office accommodation, training rooms and meeting rooms, computer facilities and a museum.
