A man has walked away uninjured after the the tractor and slurry tanker he was driving overturned on a main public road in the southeast.

The tractor and slurry tanker combination was travelling along the main road connecting New Ross and Fethard-on-Sea in Co. Wexford when the accident occurred.

Members of An Garda Siochana were called to the scene, near Gusserane, shortly after 11:00am on Thursday, July 20.

The tractor is believed to have belonged to the driver; he did not require medical attention after the incident. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.

There is believed to be a series of bends along the stretch of road where the tractor and slurry tanker overturned.

A number of Gardai remained on the scene for a couple of hours, as the machinery was taken away.

There was a significant amount of damage caused to the Fendt tractor involved in the accident, a Garda source told AgriLand.

Earlier this week, a trailer that was loaded with large square bales of straw overturned at a roundabout in Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford.

The details of how the trailer overturned are still unclear but it is believed that no other vehicle was involved in the incident, which took place on Monday morning, July 17.

The trailer, which was being towed by a blue tractor, forced members of the Gardai to close off a section of the outside lane of the roundabout.

It overturned on a roundabout close to Donohue’s garage on the N11 northbound before 8:00am, according to AA Roadwatch.

The tractor, which was towing the trailer, remained on all four wheels, but the trailer – which overturned on the main road connecting Wexford and Dublin – did disrupt some commuters on their way to work.

It is believed that it took a number of hours before the trailer and the bales were removed from the scene.
