Lir Agri, agricultural hygiene specialists, has announced an investment of more than €1 million in a new research and manufacturing facility in Granard, Longford.

Lir Agri was officially launched earlier this month with the creation of six new jobs and plans are in place to double the workforce over the next few months, according to the company.

The company develops and manufactures a range of hygiene and cleaning products for the dairy and pig sectors. Equipped with state-of-the-art research and development labs Lir Agri is focused on bringing innovation and quality to dairy hygiene products. Lir Agri hygiene products are designed to solve the issues dairy farmers will face as they expand post 2015, including additional testing and stricter regulations.

Owner and manager Micheal Savage said: “Lir Agri strives to develop the most effective, high quality products for farmers. We undertake a huge amount of research so we can confidently say our products are a very exclusive and premium Irish product. We have teamed up with Athlone Institute of Technology (AIT) in the area of research and that is an exciting development for us as they have excellent research facilities. It is our vision to strive for a sustainable dairy industry in Ireland”
