Investigations are ongoing into a collision involving a truck and a tractor in recent days, An Garda Siochana has confirmed.

The collision reportedly occurred on a section of the N3 road near Drumsillagh, Belturbet, Co. Cavan, at 11:50am on Friday, February 9.

The driver of the truck – a man in his 40s – was removed to Tallaght Hospital. Meanwhile, the driver of the tractor – also a man in his 40s – was taken to Cavan General Hospital.


The severity of the injuries sustained by both men have not been announced.

Gardai are currently investigating the incident.

The N3 was closed in both directions for a couple of hours as a result of the road traffic accident.

Meanwhile, road users have been urged to travel with care, as Met Eireann has issued another weather warning that will come into effect later this evening.

A Status Yellow weather warning has been issued and will come into into effect at 5:00pm this evening (Monday, February 12).

A spell of wet and windy weather, with a risk of thundery downpours, is forecast to sweep eastwards over the country during this evening and tonight.

Gusts of between 90kph and 110kph are likely to occur along some coastal fringes for a time. There will be a danger of additional accumulations of snow during the period also, mainly in parts of west Ulster and north Connacht.

The warning will remain valid up until 6:00am tomorrow morning (Tuesday, February 13).
