There will be heavy showers at times over the weekend, it will be humid and there will be some sunny spells at times, according to Met Eireann.

Today is forecast to be a close and humid day, with a mix of cloudy, misty periods and occasional bright or sunny spells.

Met Eireann has said that there will be some scattered showers too, mainly in northern areas and with some patches of drizzle and fog along the southwest and south coasts.

The latest indications suggest that more persistent rain to spread from the Atlantic late in the day.

Top temperatures today will range between 17 to 20 degrees, but up to 22 degrees in parts in any sunshine.

Winds are forecast to be mostly light to moderate, west to southwest, later backing southerly and freshening on Atlantic coasts.

It will be very mild and humid tonight, with scattered outbreaks of rain and fog patches, and temperatures not falling below 14 or 15 degrees, according to Met Eireann.

Increasing winds and/or outbreaks of rain will hamper spraying over the next few days, it said.

Saturday

Saturday is forecast to be a warm day but also quite a windy day with heavy showers or longer spells of rain.

There will be some sunny spells also, with maximum temperatures generally around 20 degrees but up to 23 or 24 degrees in sunshine.

Drying conditions tomorrow will be poor for almost all of the day and will be reasonably good at times next working week.

Fresh southwesterly winds will be strong around the coastline with rough seas and also a risk of choppy conditions on lakes, Met Eireann has said.

Saturday night will be windy and humid, with occasional showers or outbreaks of rain but good dry periods likely in the midlands, south and east.

Sunday

It is forecast to turn noticeably cooler for Sunday, a fresher and less humid day with sunny spells. Scattered heavy showers are also likely.

Current indications suggest that highest temperatures will be in the mid to high teens in fresh and gusty westerly winds.

It looks to remain on the cool side for Monday and Tuesday of next week with moderate to fresh west to northwest winds bringing down a mixture of sunshine and showers.
