The weather is finally set to turn this weekend, according to Met Eireann with warmer temperatures and sunny spells forecast.

Met Eireann says it will gradually become mild if not warm with continental air feeding in over Ireland. However, it won’t be fully settled until Sunday, with some falls of rain, especially during Saturday.

Friday

Mist or fog soon will clear on Friday to give a dry day for most areas, with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. However, some thundery rain will feed into Leinster and east Munster during the evening hours, mildest conditions here too though.

Highest temperatures will range 11 to 17 degrees Celsius, in moderate northerly breezes, cooler so for north and northwest counties. It will be humid overnight with falls of rain, especially affecting the south and east.

Saturday

There will be a wet start to Saturday with widespread rain. Further falls are forecast through the day, turning persistent at times, especially further west, leading to spot flooding.

The rain may ease from the south and east, though not until later. It will be a cooler day generally owing to heavy rainfall, with highest temperatures of 11 to 16 degrees Celsius, best values over Leinster. Winds will be mainly moderate easterly.

Sunday

Sunday will be a much drier day everywhere compared to Saturday, with spells of hazy sunshine. However localised heavy showers will break out, – the west and southwest most at risk.

It will be a milder day across all areas, possibly even warm, with highest temperatures of 15 to 20 or 21 degrees Celsius. Winds will be mainly light southeasterly.

Next Week

Warmer again for the early days of next week – overall dry with spells of hazy sunshine and light to moderate easterly winds. Some thundery bursts are possible though.

In the meantime

In the meantime, it will be breezy and mostly cloudy today, Wednesday.

Outbreaks of rain will affect Atlantic counties, with just the odd spot appearing elsewhere later. There will be sunny spells in parts too though, best of these further east, where it will stay largely dry.

Highest temperatures today will range between 12 to 16 degrees Celsius, mildest across the north midlands and north Leinster. Southwest winds will be moderate to fresh.

Tomorrow

Met Eireann says most areas will be dry tomorrow Thursday, apart from the odd spot of light rain. Mild spells of hazy sunshine further east, but overall the day will be fairly cloudy.

There will be mild spells of hazy sunshine further east, but overall the day will be fairly cloudy.

Highest temperatures ranging 12 to 16 or 17 degrees Celsius – best values across the Greater Dublin Region. Winds will be light variable mainly southwesterly.
