Teagasc is undertaking a national survey on the importance of grass and is seeking support from young farmers across the country.

The overall objective of the project is to improve and increase grassland use in Europe. Teagasc wants to actively involve stakeholders and to this end Macra na Feirme has devised a short questionnaire. It is calling on young farmers across Ireland to take part.

Entitled MultiSward, it is an EU project based in Teagasc Moorepark and is funded through FP7. The questionnaire is short and only takes a few minutes to complete.

According to Macra na Feirme: “This is a questionnaire of people’s opinions; therefore you do not have to be an expert in grassland or agriculture to complete it. It is hoped to include the views of as many people as possible including farmers, researchers, advisors, policy makers, persons from the agricultural industry, teachers, students, consumers, rural dwellers and urban dwellers.”

The survey is available here. More detailed information on the MultiSward Project is available on the project website www.multisward.eu.
