Personal Assistant

Macra na Feirme is looking to recruit a Personal Assistant (PA) for its Chief Executive, Denis Duggan, and the National President, James Healy.

The successful candidate will be responsible for general administrative duties – these will include: producing reports using Microsoft programmes; screening incoming calls, email and correspondence; as well as minute taking and diary management.

As PA to both Macra’s chief executive and president, the selected candidate will have overall ownership of both officials’ diaries to manage.

Graduate Programme – Agricultural Policy Officer

Macra na Feirme is also looking to hire an Agricultural Science graduate – or equivalent – as an Agricultural Policy Officer.

The Agricultural Policy Officer will provide a key support role to Macra’s Agricultural Affairs committee and will work under the support and guidance of senior policy staff.

The officer will be tasked with supporting Young Farmer Development Groups as well as supporting the research and development of agricultural and rural policy for the organisation.

Research Technician – Dairy Research Programme

Teagasc is currently looking to fill a permanent position in its active research programme at Ballyhaise Agricultural College, Ballyhaise, Co. Cavan.

The appointee will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a large pasture-based spring calving dairy herd and associated dairy farm staff.

The person who is appointed to the role will also be tasked with the delivery of the research programme.

Candidates must have a QQI Level 6 in Agriculture or a related discipline; a number of years’ experience managing a large dairy herd would also be a distinct advantage.

General Manager for Feed Mill

An animal feed manufacturer in the northeast is seeking “top class applications” for the position of General Manager.

The successful candidate will have overall responsibility for: Quality Assurance (QA) schemes; health and safety; profitability; nutrition; and the purchasing of raw materials.

Applicants should have a third level qualification in a relevant discipline, such as Agriculture, Food Science and Technology, Business or Engineering.

At least five years’ relevant experience in a similar management role is essential.

Insurance Practitioner Apprenticeship Programme 2017

FBD Insurance is looking to fill a number of new apprenticeship vacancies as part of the ‘Earn and Learn’ Insurance Practitioners Apprenticeship Programme.

The programme is run in association with the Insurance Institute of Ireland, IT Sligo and Solas.

As an apprentice at FBD Insurance candidates will gain practical work experience, be provided with a comprehensive in-house training programme and study towards a Level 8 degree over three years.
