Met Eireann says it will be cold and dry tonight (Friday) under broken cloud, but there will be frost with mist and fog patches.

Temperatures will be between 0 and 4 degrees Celsius, it says, with light northerly breezes.

On Saturday the mist and fog will clear to give a dry day with good sunny spells with temperatures in the afternoon climbing to between 9 and 12 degrees Celsius, it says. Met Eireann says wind will be light north to northeast.

For the weekend, it will be reasonably settled but weather fronts will break through early next week, bringing some rain and showers, most of which will affect the west and northwest, turning cooler also but with good sunshine at times too Met Eireann says.

Temperatures on Saturday night will be between -2 and 2 degrees Celsius in light northerly breezes, it will be dry and cold it says. There will be a slight to sharp frost which will set in along with some icy stretches, it says. Mist and fog patches are forecast for Saturday night too.

Met Eireann says there will be a cold start to Sunday with frost and any fog clearing to give a dry day with sunny spells, but it is likely to be a little cloudier at times in the south and west.

“Temperatures will climb to a fairly pleasant 9 to 13 degrees Celsius, with best values across the north midlands. Southwest winds will be no more than moderate in strength,” it says.

Met Eireann says Monday will be frost free with a mostly cloudy start with scattered outbreaks of light rain in the morning, clearing to good sunshine and well scattered showers. Amounts of rain will be minimal, with parts of the south and east escaping nearly fully dry, it says.

Monday will also be a cool day with highest temperatures of 7 to 10 degrees Celsius, with moderate, occasionally fresh west to northwest breezes, Met Eireann says.

It will be cool, bright and frosty on Tuesday with good sunshine throughout the say however, scattered showers will occur too, most frequent across Atlantic counties, with a risk of hail; and thunder in these parts, Met Eireann says.

It says it will be a breezy day, with fresh and gusty northwest breezes; afternoon highs will range a rather cool 7 to 9 degrees Celsius.
