Ballyjamesduff Mart’s weekly cattle sale took place on Tuesday last (February 13) and a large crowd attended the sale. John Tevlin, the mart manager, was happy with the performance and outlined that numbers are increasing weekly.

Almost 1,000 cattle passed through the sale rings. In the calf ring, 31 animals were on offer. A clearance rate of 87% was achieved and only four animals failed to find new homes. A large crowd gathered around the ring and the sale kicked off at 11:30am.

Generally speaking, the majority of the calf sale consisted of Friesian bulls; these lots traded for €55-161/head. A number of Belgian Blue calves were on offer and these lots sold for €335-395/head. mart mart
