Update: The closing deadline for applications for the Bachelor of Science (Agricultural Mechanisation) course in IT Tralee (ITT) is August 18.

For those who have just finished the Leaving Certificate, it should be noted that prospective ITT students will have to apply to the institute itself.

The application form is available on the institute’s website, along with further information on the course. The programme is an NFQ (National Framework for Qualifications) Level 7 course, with a three-year duration.

The course

As a direct-entry course, to apply for a place, interested applicants need to have made arrangements with a sponsoring farm machinery enterprise that can offer the work placements required by the course.

Deadline

Applicants need to have evidence of a sponsor company’s acceptance on their submissions – this is in addition to meeting the education requirements.

In terms of job opportunities from the course, ITT says: “This course will provide students with the foundation for a career in agri-mechanic roles anywhere in the world – including with farm machinery manufacturers.”

CAO Deadline

This year’s Leaving Certificate students, and other prospective students, who wish to apply for third-level courses should note that the Central Applications Office (CAO) ‘Change of Mind’ facility deadline is July 1.

After this point, applicants will not be able to alter their CAO submissions, and will need to be sure that their prioritised course lists are correct.

Meanwhile, the closing date for applications for agricultural college full-time courses around the country officially passed last month on May 26. Level 5 horticulture courses are still open, however, and will remain open until August.
