Today, Friday, is expected to be mostly cloudy with patches of mist, hill and coastal fog at first, but some limited brightness about in the northeast.

Outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the south and west are likely to spread elsewhere during the afternoon and evening, these may turn persistent and heavy at times around south Munster.

Temperatures are set to reach highs of between 10 to 13 degrees in freshening southerly winds.

Tonight is set to be relatively mild and cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle.

Some patches of hill and coastal fog are forecast, as temperatures drop to between 7 to 9 degrees.

Both drying and spraying conditions are expected to be moderate over the coming days, due to occasional rain and moderate breezes.

Well drained and moderately drained soils are expected to remain trafficable over the coming days, while poorly drained soils are saturated or waterlogged and will remain so over the coming days, according to Met Eireann.

Tomorrow

Any lingering rain is set to clear over eastern counties through the morning, turning patchy at times.

It is forecast to be generally dry across the country with sunny spells developing from the west, with just some isolated light showers.

It is expected to be rather mild, with highest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in moderate westerly breezes.

Turning chilly Saturday night with temperatures falling to between 3 and 6 degrees.
